The Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre (MRRC) was previously inspected by the ICS in September 2014 as part of the report Full House: The growth of the inmate population in NSW (PDF, 963.6 KB). It was also inspected as part of two thematic inspections examining the Management of Radicalised Inmates (PDF, 913.0 KB) and Health Services in NSW Custodial Facilities (PDF, 2.9 MB).
The MRRC is a maximum-security correctional centre for male inmates and is located on the Silverwater Correctional Complex.
The Inspector has made 14 recommendations in the report.
The Inspection of the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre report was tabled in NSW parliament and published in February 2024.
