Lithgow Correctional Centre (Lithgow CC) is a male maximum-security facility which can accommodate maximum and medium security sentenced inmates. Lithgow CC is located at Marrangaroo, on the land of the Wiradjuri people, 7 kilometres west of Lithgow in the Blue Mountains, and approximately 152 kilometres west of Sydney.
We first inspected Lithgow CC in 2016 for our inspection of the Management of Radicalised Inmates in NSW. We then did a standalone inspection in February 2021 for the Inspection of Lithgow Correctional Centre report, in which we made 18 recommendations. The report was tabled in NSW Parliament on 16 May 2022.
