Mid North Coast Correctional Centre

Background

Mid North Coast Correctional Centre (Mid North Coast CC) was previously inspected by the ICS  as part of the thematic inspections of Management of Radicalised Inmates in NSW (PDF, 913.0 KB) in 2016, and Programs, Education and Employment (PDF, 7.2 MB) in 2018. 

Where we inspected

Mid North Coast CC is located in Aldavilla in the Mid North Coast region of NSW, approximately 450km north of Sydney. It is a multi-classification correctional centre for men and women, which can accommodate up to 1,002 people across all sectors.

Recommendations

The Inspector made 40 recommendations within the report. These include systemic and facility specific improvements in:

• Conditions and treatment of inmates
• Staffing and custodial support and procedures
• Access to health and services for inmates
• Custodial infrastructure
